Hanoi’s Jan Exports Fall by 3 per cent

Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi is estimated to see a slight on-year decrease in export value of 3 per cent in the first month of this year, the municipal People’s Committee said without outlining exact figure.
 
Among key export items, farm produce reported the biggest fall of 19.8 per cent, followed by handicrafts with 5.5 per cent, electronics with 3.6 per cent and computer components with 2.9 per cent.
 
Apparel was the only export item that gained the slight growth of 1.9 per cent.
 
According to the committee, Hanoi’s total retail sales in January reached VND10.68 trillion (US$631.9 million), up 4.2 per cent on-year.
 
This year, Hanoi is forecast to see an on-year retail sales increase of 25 per cent to VND348,375 billion (US$20.61 billion), and targets to boost export growth rate by 20 per cent. (Young People)
