Tra Vinh Agricultural Products and Foodstuffs Company, a subsidiary of Southern Food Corporation, specialises in supplying exported agricultural products like frozen catfish (as a whole unit) and fillet. Mr Tran Khieu, Standing Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh Province People's Committee, said the operation of the company is of important significance, helping Tra Vinh province to restructure cultivation and livestock farming, sell agricultural products and promote economic development.
With production of modern food and seafood processing facilities in association with strict supervision and control over food hygiene and safety according to ISO standards and HACCP quality management system, the company always guarantees the quality of its products, thus gradually winning confidence of customers.
The advantage of Tra Vinh Agricultural Products and Foodstuffs Company is its own fishery farm with more than 16.5 hectares of water surface. Hence, the company always takes the initiative of raw materials for processing activities. Currently, the company is building and preparing to apply Global GAP quality management standards to standardise and heighten product quality to consolidate its market position and propagate its reputation.
The company also manages and operates big projects invested by Southern Food Corporation in Tra Vinh province like Tra Vinh Fish Feed Processing Plant that ensures adequate feed supply for the company and other customers and Cau Quan Aquatic Processing Plant (Tieu Can District) which creates a complete cultivating and processing cycle, helping the company to thoroughly control quality of input raw materials to all processing stages to ensure quality, food hygiene and safety of fish and fillet products and meet requirements of demanding markets like the EU and the US. Presently, the company is building close and strong relationships with importers and distributors in traditional markets in couple with efforts to diversify products, enhance competitiveness and expand markets to new countries like the Netherlands and Germany.
The incorporation of the company took place when the fisheries sector was in a sea of difficulties arising from price decline, input cost rise, raw material shortage and fierce competition amongst seafood enterprises. Tra Vinh and Agricultural Products Foodstuffs Company also encountered numerous challenges. But, with gigantic endeavours of all staffs and great supports from the Southern Food Corporation and Tra Vinh provincial government, the company has gradually overcome difficulties, improved production and processing capacity, and met all requirements of customers. In 2009, the firm achieved revenues of nearly VND32,932 million and a profit of nearly VND2,500 million, beating the target assigned by Southern Food Corporation.
In a bid to promote its achievements, in the future, Tra Vinh Agricultural Products and Foodstuffs Company will continue striving for maximum benefits of customers, seriousness and honesty in business and production and healthy competition with high quality and reasonable prices; focusing on training and fostering human resources; taking care of living conditions of its staffs.
