Vietnam Firms Forecast to Invest $2.2B-$2.5B Abroad Next Year

Vietnamese companies are forecast to invest between $2.2 billion and $2.5 billion in countries and territories next year, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) said.
 
The MPI said that these firms are predicted to disburse around $1 billion of the sum abroad during the year.
 
The ministry noted that the Vietnamese enterprises are estimated to have disbursed only $1 billion out of total pledged $3 billion in 2010.
 
The outbound projects focused on the fields of mining; agriculture, forestry, seafood; entertainment activities; power, gas, water and conditioner production and distribution and manufacturing.
 
Laos remains the most attractive destination for Vietnamese investors with 178 projects with the whole pledged $3.2 billion, followed by Russian with $1.7 billion and Cambodia with $1.3 billion.
 
Vietnamese firms have so far invested more than $8 billion in over 500 projects abroad. Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group, Saigon Thuong Tin JS Commercial Bank (Sacombank), Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) are among those. (Investment)
