US$28.84Mln for Renewing Seafood Processing Technology in Ca Mau
Southern Ca Mau province has been investing more money in renewing seafood-processing technologies to improve the products’ quality and competitiveness of its enterprises. In the 2001-2004 period, the province has so far spent VND450 billion (US$28.84 million) on the task, including VND100 billion (US$6.41 million) in 2004.
Ca Mau now has 19 IQF production lines with total annual capacity of 20,000 tonnes of frozen seafood products. The total processing capacity of all seafood factories in the province stands at 120,000 tonnes per annum, three times higher than that in 2001, however, the plants at present run at only 60 per cent of their total capacity.
