CPI of Hanoi, HCMC Exceeds 1 %

Hanoi’s consumer price index (CPI) in February rose by 1.45 percent from the previous month. In Ho Chi Minh City, CPI rose 1.32 percent, exceeding the 1 percent level for the first time in the past seven months.
 
The Hanoi Statistics Office reported that this month, ten commodity groups saw CPI increases compared to January, while post and telecom prices remained stable.
 
The price hike in the capital city was mostly driven by two groups: housing and construction materials, and restaurant and services. The highest rise was seen in housing and construction materials at 2.79 percent, while the restaurant and services group had a price increase of 2.32 percent.
 
In Ho Chi Minh City, CPI rose by 1.32 percent in February, bringing the figure for the first two months this year to 2.22 percent.
 
This month, only post and telecom dropped, with a 0.56 percent decrease, while the remaining ten commodity groups had price surges. Two commodity groups having higher CPI increases than average were restaurant and services, with 1.97 percent, and housing and fuel materials, with 2.96 percent.
 
The lowest CPI increases belonged to medicine and health devices (0.02 percent), education (0.09 percent) and culture, sport and tourism (0.07 percent).
