The number of foreign arrivals to Hanoi is forecast at one million in the first half of 2012, up 20% against the same period last year.
Of the figure, over 736,000 visitors stayed in Hanoi.
Noticeably, the city lured some 36,590 visitors from the Republic of Korea (RoK), up 46%; 61,867 from Australia, up 13%; and 68,738 from Japan, up 24%.
Meanwhile, around 7.3 million of domestic guests flocked to Hanoi, posting a-year-on-year increase of 24%. The city expects to handle two million foreign and 12.8 million domestic visitors in 2012, said Mr. Truong Minh Tien, Deputy Director of the Municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The city plans to coordinate with other provinces and cities to upgrade tours while broadening tourism promotion activities in foreign markets like Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Canada and the RoK.
Hanoi will host the 12th annual conference of the Council for Promotion of Tourism in Asia (CPTA) this October.
