The 16th edition of the World Export Development Forum (WEDF) is set to take place from October 12 to 13 2016 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The event is organised by the International Trade Centre (ITC) with an exclusive focus on assisting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). WEDF will bring together over 600 senior national and international policymakers, leaders of trade support organisations, business leaders and representatives of international agencies.
The 16th WEDF is co-hosted by ITC and the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) under the Ministry of Development Strategies and International Trade of Sri Lanka. In Sri Lanka, over 91 per cent of businesses are SMEs. EDB is the key agency that promotes linkages between Sri Lankan businesses and international markets and partners.
Themed “Trade for Success: Connect, Compete, Change”, WEDF 2016 will focus on promoting SMEs in global and regional value chains and new realities arising from trade: Digitisation of global economy, drastic changes in demand and purchasing capacity of customers and new regional integration model.
As a representative for the forum, the Ministry of Development Strategies and International Trade of Sri Lanka will hold a special programme for companies attending the forum October 11 to 14, 2016.
