Son La in Response to National Tourism Year 2017 Lao Cai-Northwest

National Tourism Year 2017 - Lao Cai - Northwest is to raise public awareness about the development of tourism tied to the protection of tourism resources of the region such as location, the role of tourism in socio-economic development; introducing and promoting the tangible and intangible cultural values, resources and unique tourism products of Lao Cai to attract domestic and international tourists, make a breakthrough in tourism development, promote economic development, create momentum for local tourism development in the coming years. It also aims at boosting the development of tourism links between the provinces in the expanded Tourism Development Cooperation Division of 8 Northwest provinces and strengthening cooperation among the provinces in the Northwest with other regions and localities both at home and abroad, promoting international integration, enabling powerful resources for tourism development, spreading the country's image; developing the potential and advantages of tourism resources to focus on building, renovating and diversifying tourism products, while focusing on unique tourism products of each locality and expanding markets, operating tours, creating new tourism products to fit needs of the market; promoting synchronous development of infrastructure in important tourist destinations; improving the quality of human resources and tourist services; construction and renovation of cultural facilities, monuments, recreation and entertainment utilities.

 

National Tourism Year 2017 is hosted by Lao Cai province with the participation of seven northwestern provinces namely Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Hoa Binh, Son La, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Ha Giang and other cities such as Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Lam Dong, Khanh Hoa and Ho Chi Minh City, Kien Giang and Can Tho. Overall the programme will have 42 activities, including 22 cultural, sports and tourism activities, 8 promotion activities, and 4 international activities. Son La will participate in activities such as: coordinate with Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (Vnat) to organise Festival of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam-Laos in September 2017; Festival Moc Chau - Son La tea in March 2017 in Moc Chau district, in which the steering agencies are the People’s Committee of Son La province and the implementing agency is the People’s Committee of Moc Chau district, Son La city.

The programme also aims at holding a photo contest about Son La Tourism, holding a contest about designing souvenir gifts for Son La province and the promotion activities to popularise National Tourism Year 2017.

 

The opening ceremony and announcement of National Tourism Year 2017 Lao Cai - Northwest will be held on the fifteenth of the first lunar month 2017 (tied to Thuong Temple Festival - Lao Cai). Son La province also responds to the event with tourism community products: Tourism in Hua Tat village - Van Ho commune (in association with the Mong ethnic people), Na Bai village - Chieng Yen commune (in association with the Muong ethnic people) - Van Ho district; Ban Ang - Dong Sang - Moc Chau commune (in association with the Thai ethnic people); the Da River tourism route; Tourism "The Flower of the Northwest" in Moc Chau, Van Ho commune.

 

Besides, Son La province will actively participate in the activities in response to the expanded Northwest provinces such as the 8^th Cultural And Sports Festival in Lao Cai province; Culture, Sports and Tourism Day of four countries: Vietnam - China - Laos - Cambodia in Dien Bien province; Festival typical community villages of Vietnam in Hoa Binh province; Chef contest with the theme: "The golden spoons - Northwest Taste" by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

 

The closing ceremony of National Tourism Year 2017 is expected to be held in November or December 2017.
