Thien Loc Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, founded in 2009, has not only become a strong brand with a nationwide market share and developed a variety of business fields from urban infrastructure to transport and irrigation construction, but also shifted to investment, a firm stepping stone for Thien Loc to climb to a higher position in the future. Vietnam Business Forum Magazine has an interview with Mr. Vu Van Truong, President and CEO of Thien Loc Construction Investment Joint Stock Company. Tran Trang reports.
With its own direction, Thien Loc has buoyed up the construction investment market of urban infrastructure, transport and civil engineering in the past years. Could you please introduce Thien Loc’s completed and ongoing projects that have made their mark and brought sustainable values to the community?
At first, Thien Loc primarily designed and constructed infrastructure, irrigation, transport and civil engineering projects. Formed by experienced and reputable construction teams, Thien Loc is staffed by well-trained engineers, architects, bachelors, and workers. Besides, it has modern facilities, synchronous machinery and equipment combined with strong financial capacity to take any offers with rigorous requirements from partners. In addition to well-trained personnel, key employees of Thien Loc have a solid background as they have experience with major domestic construction brands such as Vinaconex and Hanoi Construction Corporation. Thus, all projects are completed on schedule, guaranteed with technical and aesthetic factors, and trusted and appreciated by partners.
Over the past 10 years, Thien Loc has left many bold imprints on major projects across the country such as National Highway 183 upgrade (Hai Duong province), technical infrastructure construction for My Dinh II Urban Area (Hanoi), technical infrastructure construction for Viet Hung Urban Area (Hanoi), water treatment system for Bao Son Paradise Area (Hanoi), Quan Hoa Primary School (Hanoi), and Long Bien Police Office (Hanoi). In addition to construction, the company has invested in many projects like Thong Nhat Road and technical infrastructure for the residential area on Thang Loi Street in Song Cong City (Thai Nguyen province), Nguyen Du Road and technical infrastructure for PPP-based land area in Bien Hoa City (Dong Nai province), and a VND999-billion housing and office complex in Minh Khai Ward, Bac Tu Liem District (Hanoi).
Currently, Thien Loc is focusing on key projects across the country, including the VND321-billion completed Thong Nhat Road and technical infrastructure for residential area (opening for sale) in Thang Loi Ward, Song Cong City (Thai Nguyen) and the VND321-billion ongoing Nguyen Du Road and technical infrastructure for PPP payment-based land area in Bien Hoa City (Dong Nai).
After more than a decade of development, despite a lot of hardships in the way, Thien Loc has affirmed its capacity, prestige and brand in construction, transport and real estate construction investment. This achievement is strongly motivational for Thien Loc to strive for more impressive successes. Despite having achieved so much success, we are not satisfied with what we have made, but always try our best for higher and stronger stature. In the coming time, Thien Loc will focus on intensive investment in construction projects, constantly improve business methods, ensure stable and rising income for employees, and create motivation to reap more success in the future and firmly climb to new highs.
Corporate culture is considered a compass for the development of Thien Loc in the market. Could you please tell us about the journey to build corporate culture that has led to the company’s current status?
In business, Thien Loc always regards cultural values as the foundation of society. In the company, behavioral culture and law compliance are always the most important. The typical identity of Thien Loc corporate culture is built on three “Three No's” principle: No law violation, no unfocused investment and no wrongly purposed investment; and on “Three Goods” approach: Good for the State, good for investors and good for people, which matches the guiding opinion of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc that “No one will be left behind”.
On the other hand, Thien Loc's culture is also clearly expressed by practical actions such as timely collecting waste and materials at construction sites to mitigate environmental pollution and adverse impacts on surrounding landscapes, proactively forgoing noisier work processes at night to respect people's need to rest, and upholding the sense of responsibility and self-awareness of employees. Hence, authorities and residents in the company’s project areas are always satisfied with its construction activities.

We understand that human resources always play an important role in all social activities and build the success of the company. Therefore, the company performs very professional recruitment to employ best engineers and workers for each position, who must have a cultured lifestyle, civilized conduct and polite attitude anytime, anywhere. In fact, this is not the only difference from its peers. Specially, Thien Loc has a consulting council consisting of military, political and cultural specialists, including acclaimed professor Vu Khieu, who always work by the side of the company in all activities.
Thien Loc has never downplayed corporate culture because of construction progress. We believe that people who are cultured, capable and dedicated to society and the country will always create high-quality beautiful and applicable products. Thereby, we can practically contribute to a positive change for the nation on the development path with the world.
Sustainable business has recently become a popular concept. What obstacles does the company face when pursuing sustainable development goals?
In my opinion, a company not only works to make products but also has the responsibility of creating human values, protecting the environment and caring for the community. Sustainable development is the right way to create those values. Environmental sustainability, community support and long-term business existence are truly valuable, although largely unmeasurable. That is the reason why Thien Loc spares no effort, money or time in pursuing sustainability, which is considered a survival path for the business.
With a business philosophy linked with social responsibility, Thien Loc always supports the community through charitable activities. The company annually sets aside part of its revenue for a charity fund; and visits and gives gifts to many policy beneficiaries on July 27 and Tet holidays
The company leadership cares about gratitude for people with sacrifice and service for the nation, scholarships for poor students in localities where it has construction projects, and charitable houses for people in remote areas. These charity activities provide encouragement. The company gave gifts to disadvantaged students at Hong Quang Primary School in Nam Truc district, Nam Dinh province, on the occasion of New Year 2019. The total value of support from the beginning of 2019 to the present amounts to VND3 billion. The company has also cooperated with the People's Police Newspaper to construct two bridges in Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province, worth VND1.2 billion; built three bell towers on Song Tu, Phan Vinh and Sinh Ton islands of the Spratly Islands; and given Tet gifts to officers of the Regiment 935, Regiment 937, Air Force Division 370 (VND200 million each).
Recently, the company enthusiastically took part in a starting ceremony to seek support for building 15 houses for poor veterans, policy families and poor households in border communes of Ha Giang province and pledged to go with the program to help people in Ha Giang quickly get shelter as soon as possible. Reportedly, Ha Giang has more than 4,100 needy households. As many as 1,557 households will get prioritized support in 2019-2020. With its respect to people, good treatment for talents and appropriate priority for community-interested works, Thien Loc Construction Investment Joint Stock Company is always an active, sensitive and enthusiastic investor of projects for the community.
