Son Tra: A tourist destination of Da Nang City
Da Nang city plans to develop six tourist projects, three of them are coastal tourism. Son Tra peninsula will be built into a major tourist centre with several phases. In the phase from 2002 to 2005, beaches in Nam, But and Trem and villas in South Son Tra have been built. In phase 2005-2010, Son Tra - Tho Quang area will be upgraded with watersport services, cable car sand complete infrastructure and facilities. In the meantime, although the projects have not been completed, tourists have been coming on holidays for rest and recreation.
Mr Luong Minh Sam, Head of Da Nang Tourism Department said that in July 2005, during Da Nang Culture - Tourism Festival, Son Tra eco-tourism will attract an increasing number of tourists. It will also be an ideal stopover for tourists visiting Da Nang and world cultural relics in Central Vietnam. The safe and attractive location will attract more foreign investments.
Mr Richard, a potential Australian investor, said that the picturesque landscape, and clean and serene environment have convinced him to develop a coastal resort.
The development of Son Tra eco-tourism and coastal resort will strongly promote Da Nang tourism, making it a world famous tourist area. Son Tra peninsula is at the centre of Da Nang Bay, although close to a modern city retains a most attractive wilderness. The moderate climate has the benefit of a cooling sea breeze, mountain clouds and forest air. Son Tra tourist centre will be the central point of the coastal tourist tour from Hai Van pass to Hoi An ancient town.
The total investment for the six projects is worth nearly VND2,000 billion. The Son Tra Resorts & Spa with 250 rooms will cost VND600 billion and phase 1 will be completed in July 2006. It will become the second five-star resort in Central Vietnam after the Furama. Tien Sa Resort is capitalised at VND300 billion, and together with other projects will make Da Nang an ideal tourist centre.
