Commemorating the company's 20th anniversary (August 28, 2003 - August 28, 2023)

Thai Nguyen province, in recent years, has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to not only developing industrial zones aligned with topographical conditions and local potential but also to establishing a network of industrial zones utilizing cutting-edge manufacturing technologies. This approach aims to uphold environmental standards and actively contribute to the principles of sustainable development.

A notable example of this commitment is Song Cong I, the inaugural centralized industrial zone in Thai Nguyen province. Having undergone two transformations and three operational models over 20 years (August 28, 2003 - August 28, 2023), the company has achieved commendable milestones. Its contributions have been pivotal in supporting the growth of Song Cong I Industrial Zone and furthering the industrialization agenda of Thai Nguyen province.

With aspirations to position Thai Nguyen as the foremost industrial province in the northeast, Song Cong I Industrial Zone stands as a focal point for Thai Nguyen province. Meticulous attention is accorded to each phase of development, focusing on enhancing infrastructure quality to attract prospective investors to the park.

The targeted industries within Song Cong I Industrial Zone include scrap steel billet smelting utilizing medium-frequency electric furnaces, apparel manufacturing, zinc electrolysis, and electronics component production. Currently, the park hosts 66 active projects, with 59 projects possessing environmental certifications. All monitored indicators within Song Cong I Industrial Zone adhere to permissible limits for both noise and ambient air quality.

Song Cong I Industrial Zone has successfully attracted 54 tenants, comprising 11 foreign investors and 43 domestic investors. Key tenants, such as TNG Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company, Thai Nguyen - Vimico Nonferrous Metals Joint Stock Company, and Toan Thang Steel Joint Stock Company, collectively occupy an area of 33.27 hectares.

The overview of Song Cong Industrial Zone

With a dedicated commitment to fostering a green and sustainable industrial environment, the company prioritizes wastewater treatment within the industrial zone. It has established a synchronized rainwater and wastewater drainage system, complemented by a centralized wastewater treatment station boasting a daily capacity of 2,000 cubic meters. Song Cong I Industrial Zone has further implemented online monitoring equipment, seamlessly transmitting data to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Having achieved certification for its environmental protection facilities, the industrial zone efficiently manages approximately 1,200 cubic meters of wastewater daily, meeting the standards set by QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT. Treatment data are continuously relayed to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, ensuring stringent compliance around the clock.

Beyond its environmental initiatives, the presence of Song Cong I Industrial Zone has significantly elevated social well-being in the region. This includes the creation of employment opportunities for local residents and migrant workers, contributing to local socioeconomic development, and catalyzing sustainable growth.

In recognition of its outstanding accomplishments spanning the last two decades, the company has garnered prestigious awards, including the Certificate of Appreciation presented by the Prime Minister in 2009, along with Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Planning and Investment in 2006 and 2008. The Thai Nguyen Provincial People’s Committee has consistently honored the company with Certificates of Appreciation and Emulation Flags over successive years. The company has been distinguished as a sustainable business by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

In a concerted effort to unlock development potential and enhance economic value for tenants, Thai Nguyen province has implemented proactive solutions. By mobilizing available resources, the province is dedicated to the synchronous development of modern technical and social infrastructure. This approach aims to ensure seamless connectivity and integrity, aligning with the development requirements of investors and enterprises.

Mr. Hoang Cong Doan, Director of Thai Nguyen Industrial Zone Infrastructure Development Joint Stock Company, emphasized that the proactive shift toward a green, eco-friendly, and sustainable industrial zone aligns with the National Strategy on Green Growth and Vietnam's commitments to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, as outlined at COP26. However, Mr. Doan acknowledged the complexities involved in developing a green industrial model, citing challenges in securing preferential financial policies tailored for eco-industrial zones, particularly in compliance with global environmental standards, water supply, wastewater systems, regulatory requirements, and trade agreements signed by Vietnam.
