VCCI Can Tho Branch: Standing Shoulder to Shoulder with Enterprises

Last year, VCCI Can Tho branch had various activities to assist enterprises in Mekong Delta region, strongly contributing to the region’s economic development, which is more and more trusted by enterprises.

 

One of the most significant activities was the organization of workshops, conferences on information exchange among enterprises, local authorities, economic organisations, and investment funds, giving enterprises a chance to access capital sources and financial assistance and promote trade exchange.

 

In particular, there were many great events and conferences attracting attention from the business community such as a conference on investments into the Mekong Delta, a conference on growth and industrialisation, starting a career and job creation in the Mekong Delta. Such activities help in enhancing the image and reputation of VCCI in general and VCCI Can Tho in particular.

 

VCCI Can Tho has also carried out activities to assist enterprises such as training, trade and investment promotion, exchange among local and foreign enterprises, market information supply and law consultancy. Knowledge and professional skills of staff of local enterprises have been enhanced via training classes with an abundant content including: enterprise starting, investment project making and assessment, negotiation skills…Apart from its main task, the body providing country of origin (C/O), with 8,389 C/Os provided last year, also consulting enterprises about formalities for customs clearance, providing C/O, and allocating someone on duty on Saturday to solve vital demands of enterprises.

 

VCCI Can Tho has participated in the coordination committee on a project assisting enterprises run by German Organisation for Technical Cooperation in An Giang province, project assisting private enterprises by EU in the city of Can Tho and a poverty reduction project in Tra Vinh province. In addition, Can Tho has maintained relations with local authorities in order to create a transparent environment for the local business community.

 

Trade promotion activities have well developed including meetings on trade and market information exchange between delegations of enterprises with the consulates of Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, and meetings among local enterprises and those from Thailand, China, Scotland and Taiwan. In addition, VCCI Can Tho also has created conditions for enterprises to participate in domestic fairs such as the Vietnamese high-quality goods fair, Can Tho international exhibition, and the Golden Prize. To promotion activities overseas, the agency in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs has sent 4 delegations of enterprises to foreign countries to make market surveys and take part in fairs held in the city of Kunming (Van Nam province) and Nam Ninh (Quang Tay province) of China, the city of Bangkok, Chaingmai and Pattaya of Thailand. It has displayed such activities on a website, VCCI Can Tho has re-designed its website which can be viewed at http://vccimekong.com.vn with an English version, creating good conditions for foreign investors and trade partners to seek cooperation opportunities with local enterprises.

 

In 2006, VCCI Can Tho intends to coordinate with the Customs Department, Tax Office and the Department of natural resources and environment to hold talks between enterprises and local authorities to solve questions and create a transparent and convenient environment for the business community; conduct research on local economic development in the city of Can Tho and Tien Giang, and ask for specialists’ support and contributions to the enterprise assistance project. The agency will also coordinate with HCMC-based South Department of foreign investment to promote the Mekong Delta to international partners. Trade promotion will focus on key markets such as Japan, Malaysia, EU, ASEAN with activities such as holding a conference on promotion, sending delegations of enterprises to foreign countries to survey their markets, giving guidance and support to enterprises’ trademark development and promotion in connection with the Mekong Delta. To facilitate enterprises’ access to services to enhance their operation efficiency, VCCI Can Tho will make surveys on demands for property in the Mekong Delta regions as well as other activities to make property services a body supporting enterprises.
