Central highlands Dak Nong province plans to invest more than VND2,400 billion (US$150 million) in building and upgrading 300 irrigation works from now to 2020 with a view to facilitate the local agriculture sector.
The investment, 90 per cent of which comes from Dak Nong’s budget, has already been approved under the provincial project to develop small irrigation works in the 2006-20 period, said local People’s Committee.
Once fully operational, the irrigation works will serve to supply water for more than 50,000 hectares of paddy and other plants while benefiting around 185,000 local people.
Besides paddy, Dak Nong’s land is most suitable for cultivation of pepper, rubber, coffee, timber and rubber.
