In recent years, the Vietnamese sugar industry has made considerable progresses, after many years of losses, thanks to efficient and timely supports of the Government via policies to assist, organise and reshuffle sugar production companies. Bourbon Tay Ninh Sugar Co. Ltd (SBT or Sucrerie de Bourbon Tay Ninh), grasped this fortune to improve its financial situation and began making profit since 2004. With its better business, SBT boldly assisted farmers to expand sugarcane areas in Tay Ninh Province by providing loans for farmers to buy or rent lands to grow sugarcanes. Besides, SBT also focused budgets on promoting agricultural productivity and applying mechanisation to reduce production costs.
At present, SBT is stabilising the production of highly refined (RE) sugar trademarked MIMOSA, suitable for all customers, especially demanding industrial sectors like beverage, food processing and pharmacy.
Apart from the employment of well-trained workers and staff and the application of certified ISO9001-2000 quality management system, SBT is running a modern factory covering 32 ha in Tan Chau District, Tay Ninh Province. The plant is collecting materials from 170 ha of cultivation farms and 33 ha of piloting areas. It is now providing stable jobs for more than 600 workers and seasonal jobs for some 3,000 farmers. Each year, SBT spends VND300 billion to buy materials and provide baby plants for farmers.
Before the enforcement of the laws on investment and enterprise in July 2006, the company had made necessary preparations for going public to tap its full potential and raise its competitiveness to form the strong SBT we see today.
