The two-way trade between Vietnam and Bangladesh is estimated to reach US$75 million this year, posting a growth of 15 per cent on-year, said Bangladesh's Foreign Affairs Adviser Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury.
The adviser made the statement at a reception given by the Vietnamese Ambassador to Bangladesh Nguyen Van That at his office.
The adviser conveyed his congratulation to Vietnamese leaders for the country's membership of the UN Security and Council and the World Trade Organization (WTO), affirming Bangladesh's supports to the country's new status.
Dr. Chowdhury also expressed Bangladesh's keenness to join the Ganges-Mekong Cooperation Initiative comprising India, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, heard at the meeting.
Vietnam and Bangladesh officially established diplomatic relations in February 1973.
The two sides set a target of US$ 100 million of two-way trade by the year 2008. (Foreign Media)
