The fourth Vietnam International Precision Engineering, Machine Tools and Metalworking Exhibition and Conference (MTA Vietnam 2008) took place in Hanoi from July 9 to 12, 2008. The event, jointly organised by VCCI Exhibition Service Co. Ltd and Singapore Exhibition Services Company, attracted the participation of leading companies from Germany, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and other countries.
The event had 382 exhibitors with 80 per cent being foreign companies from 25 countries and territories in the world. They showcased their most modern machine and tool products in eight groups.
 
Dr Vu Tien Loc, Chairman of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), remarked that the Vietnamese industrial engineering sector has made outstanding progresses in the past years and its industrial production value grew quickly. To maintain current high growth rate, mechanical enterprises need to scale up production and manufacture favourite products of competitive advantage and high value such as machine tools, pumps and hydraulic equipment for power plants. MTA Exhibition matches the development tency of the industrial engineering sector.
 
Ms Bui Thi Thuc Anh, Director of VCCI Exhibition Service Co. Ltd, said: Vietnam now is in the process of modernising all aspects of economy and technology. Thus, the approach and grasp of industrial engineering technologies to serve production is becoming an indispensably decisive requirement to the Vietnamese economy.
 
Besides, to attract more visitors to MTA 2008 in Hanoi, the organising board had free bus service for industrial zones in and around Hanoi such as Thang Long, Noi Bai, Sai Dong A, Sai Dong B, Tan Truong (Hai Duong Province), Nomura (Haiphong City), and industrial zones in Vin Phuc, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen and Ha Tay provinces, said Mr Willam Lim,director of MTA Vietnam project.
Additionally, the organising board also directly showed solutions and technologies for industrial production displayed in themes: Vietnam&rsquos economic growth acceleration, AFTA treaty, human resource training, opportunity and challenge to Vietnamese automation industry, international standard reach, shipbuilding industry development orientation.
 
Mr Stephen Tan, General Director of Singapore Exhibition Services Company and President of Allworld Exhibitions Alliance, added that the organisation of MTA Vietnam in Hanoi was aimed to serve the strongly growing industrial engineering industry in Vietnam. MTA generates huge opportunities for automation, precision engineering, electricity, electronics and contract production sectors of Vietnam to approach advanced technologies and solutions.
Success from technology
According to Mr Chritoph Miller, director of German Machine Tool Builders&rsquo Association project, said: MTA Vietnam 2008 is a good environment for German companies to meet and associate with Vietnamese partners. He affirmed that exhibited products, despite high prices, had high quality, high operating efficiency and long lifespan, and was easy-to-use. These products were proven better than similar types on the market.
