Lao Marine Transport Services Company will pour US$150 million into building a deep water port in central Quang Tri province under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) Monday, the Tien Phong (Pioneer) newspaper reported.
The MoU was inked between Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Cuong and the company’s director Liemphy Songkham.
The Lao investor has received the province’s approval for studying the planning of the project to carry out the project at the soonest.
Details about the project have not yet been made available at the moment, the newspaper said.
Laos has to date invested US$48 million into nine projects in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Vietnamese firms have poured US$1.28 billion into 117 projects in Laos, remaining the third biggest among 30 foreign investors in the country, just after Thailand and China. (Pioneer)
