The Dinh Vu Steel Joint Stock Company said August 23 it will build a coke coal refining plant in northern port Haiphong City.

The facility, estimated to cost VND1,037 billion (US$62.84 million), will have a capacity of 450,000 tons per annum.

At present, Vietnam has to import almost all coke coal, an important input material in refining cast iron and steel.

China is Vietnam’s coke coal biggest supplier. However, the neighboring country has recently raised the export tax on coke coal with an aim to limit exports of the product.

The Dinh Vu Company targets to make revenues of VND2.6 trillion, net profits of VND120 billion and pay dividend at VND4,947/share this year. (CafeF, ATPvietnam.com)
