Interbank Forex Rate Hits Seven-Week High

The State Bank of Vietnam, or central bank, on September 9 raised interbank forex rate by VND2 to VND16,501/USD, the highest rate over the past seven weeks.
 
The interbank forex rate had fluctuated between VND16,495 and VND16,499 since July 22.
 
After central bank adjusted interbank rate, state-owned commercial banks also raised the foreign currency rate to VND16,600/USD (buy) and VND16,831/USD (sell).
 
In some large commercial banks, prices of the U.S dollar were bought at VND16,550-VND16,570 a dollar and sold at VND16,600-VND16,630/USD. (Labor)
