As many as 100 Vietnamese businessmen received the Thanh Giong (St Giong) Cup for their outstanding performances in the international economic integration.
Speaking at an awarding ceremony, the third of its kind, held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in Hanoi on October 11, State President Nguyen Minh Triet praised the business community’s achievements and great contributions to maintaining the country’s high and stable economic growth, generating jobs for local labourers and reducing poverty.
“The Vietnamese business community has rapidly developed in both quantity and quality,” the president said.
Vietnamese entrepreneurs are facing both opportunities and challenges, especially amid complicated developments in the world economy, he said, adding that it requires them to improve management capacity and competitiveness as well as strengthen mutual co-operation to overcome the difficulties.
The State leader also expressed his belief that the Vietnamese business community, with their efforts and competence, will uphold existing achievements and overcome difficulties, contributing more to the country’s socio-economic development. (VNA)
