Korea's Hyundai Engineering and Construction (E&C) Company October 16 signed a US$93 million contract to conduct the main construction package of a 68-storey financial tower developed by the Binh Minh Im-Export, Production and Trading Corp.

The 262.5-meter-high building will be the tallest financial tower and the second highest facility in Vietnam, after the 336-meter, 70-storey Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower.

The package also includes the supply and installation of the tower's electrical and engineering systems.

The Bitexco Financial Tower, located in HCM City's District 1, is bound by the streets of Hai Trie, Ngo Duc Ke and Ho Tung Mau. The total investment for the tower is estimated at US$220 million.

Bitexco chairman Vu Quang Hoi said he expected the project will be completed in 2010.

The lotus-shaped tower will have three basements of over 12,000 square meters, around 100,000 sq.m for office space, a convention center and a shopping mall.

Bitexco has become a large real estate developer with residential complexes including the Manor Hanoi and the Manor Saigon, and the Garden – an office, hotel, and shopping mall complex. (Labor)
