Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has agreed to license the Mekong Aviation, making it the third private airline in Vietnam, the Vnexpress reported.
The new airline has a registered capital of VND200 billion.
The first two private airlines are Vietjet Airlines and Indochina Airlines.
Mekong Aviation is considering three types of aircrafts, including Bombadier, Embraer and ATR 72 with total seats below 100. The carrier plans to use a fleet of 10 aircrafts for domestic flights of Hanoi-Phu Quoc, Hanoi-Nha Trang, and Hanoi-Can Tho.
Mekong Aviation is scheduled to start operating from 2010 at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi.
Meanwhile, Indochina Airlines will run its first flights on November 25 between Hanoi, HCM City and Danang. Vietjet Airlines also planned to start in April 2009. (Vnexpress)
