The Viet Hung Urban Development and Investment Joint Stock Company (Vihajico) plans to start construction on an US$8.2 billion ecological urban center in northern Hung Yen province next month.

To cover 500 hectares in Van Giang district, 12.8 kilometers away from Hanoi, the Eco Park, is expected to become the first ecological city in Vietnam, said Vihajico General Director, Dao Ngoc Thanh.

Around 22 per cent of its area will be zoned off for tree planting and lakes – the highest rate in the country’s new urban centers, Thanh added.

The Eco Park will feature a commercial area, an old quarter, a residential area, a golf course, lakeside villas and other areas.

Thanh said the company is now building a waterworks to ensure sufficient supply of clean water for the future urban centre, in addition to a waste water treatment plant.

Vihajico will also invest VND1.5 billion in studying a water environment control and treatment system inside the park. (VnExpress)
