Saigontourist Holding Corporation (Saigontourist) is in negotiations to buy a 252-room hotel in San Francisco and plans to buy other hotels in Moscow, Tokyo, Berlin and Hong Kong, said the firm’s General Director Nguyen Huu Tho.
Tho said that his company just received approval from the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee to buy the hotel in the U.S.
Saigontourist and the American partner are discussing the price for the hotel, Tho said, denying media reports that the company reached a final deal.
The director disclosed that Saigon tourist served 658,953 local and international visitors in the first half this year, bringing in a total VND3.8 trillion (US$215 million) in revenue, equal to the same period for 2008.
The country’s leading hospitality service company has set a goal to earn revenue of VND8.2 trillion in 2009 compared to VND7.5 trillion last year.
It is offering up to 73 per cent discounts at its hotels, restaurants and other facilities as part of its “Saigontourist-Summer Impression” promotional program, which runs until September 30. (Labor, VNS)
