PetroVietnam Asked to Explain Estimates for MP3-Ca Mau Gas Pipeline

The Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation (PetroVietnam) has been asked to explain total estimates for a project on building the MP3-Ca Mau pipeline before August 15, 2004 by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. The demand follows the need to accelerate the signing of EPC contracts, ensuring the project’s implementation progress, and to clarify some murky factors that were found when the Ministry of Construction appraised the project’s estimates.

The Government Office on August 9 announced the guidelines of the Deputy Prime Minister. According to the Government Office’s announcement, Deputy Prime Minister Dung observed that the project management board should take full advantage of consulting services for the project’s management in approving designs and supervision of its construction.

Regarding the Ca Mau electric power plant project, the Deputy Prime Minister asked PetroVietnam to find ways for developing the plant’s foundation in a suitable and economical manner. For the Dung Quat oil refinery plant project, PetroVietnam has been guided on problems concerning the interface of EPC contracts, ensuring the project goes ahead as planned.
