Da Nang Tourism - Four Seasons of Warmth and Fun
Lying along the heritage road of the Central region and adjacent to four natural and cultural world heritage sites, Da Nang is an ideal destination for visitors. Da Nang is endowed with natural beauty and well-known sites that have won the heart of many generations. The city has attached great importance to developing tourism in its plans for development.
The Five Mountains Complex is a beauty-spot that has been recognised by the State as a national historic relic since 1980. This is a particularly famous, appealing and interesting destination of Da Nang city. The Five Mountains Complex comprises five peaks named after five elements of the universe: Metal Peak, Wood Peak, Water Peak, Fire Peak and Earth Peak. The caves in the Five Mountains Complex are magnificent and beautiful. The sunlight winds its way through alleys of rock, making stalactites sparkle and tourists' imagination light up.
The pagodas located in the Five Mountains Complex are home to many artefacts of great cultural, religious and historical value. The poems carved into the stones since the Le and Tran dynasties, the tomb of Tran Quang Dieu general's mother, the temple dedicated to Ngoc Lan Prince – Minh Mang King's younger sister, and revolutionary relics (Da Chong Mountain, Ba Tho Cave and Kim Son Mount) are persuasive evidence of a land home to great talents and beauty.
Ba Na Resort is 40 kilometres west of Da Nang city centre. Ba Na mount is 1,487 meters high. The site has a cool climate all year round with an average temperature in summer of 18oC. Ba Na was discovered by French captain Debay during an expedition in 1900. Ba Na is always amidst white clouds that hover around the mountain slopes and even make their way into resting rooms. Ba Na is endowed with many wild orchids, deer, monkeys, wild birds and magnificently coloured butterflies. It also possesses other beauty-spots such as Nui Chua, Rainbow waterfall, Deer spring, Ancient wine-cellar and Ling Ung pagoda. After 100 years of desertion, Ba Na has been built into a complete resort with a local transport network, villas, hotels, bungalows, and entertainment zones to attract visitors.
Son Tra Peninsula is a natural ecologic area with long, unspoiled and beautiful beaches such as Bac, But, Xep and Tien Sa. Son Tra Mountain is 693 meters above sea level. The primitive forest on the peninsula covers 4,370 hectares with precious species including Vooc chava, long-tailed monkey and the red-faced cock. Son Tra is not only a natural area of preservation but also an eco-tourist zone where sports activities thrive such as mountain climbing, sea diving, stream bathing and fishing. At present, Da Nang is building a tourist path along the sea from Son Tra to Dien Ngoc (20 kilometres long) to boost tourist development in the locality. To the west of Son Tra peninsula, the Tien Sa (Fairy Landing) Mountain protrudes into Da Nang Bay and is adjacent to a beautiful beach named Duyen Thuy Beach by King Tu Duc. The Tien Sa resort and eco-tourist zone will welcome visitors with beach-side hotels and various types of entertainment.
Da Nang's coast is over 30 kilometres long, with the beautiful beaches of Non Nuoc, Bac My An and My Khe beach stretching between Hai Van pass and Non Nuoc Mountain. The clear blue sea and gentle and warm waves welcome visitors during all four seasons. In the near future, Nam O will become a coastal tourist resort offering various entertainment services including sports activities, weekend holidays, camping and eco-tourism. The beaches on the Son Tra peninsula are equally beautiful and appealing. Visitors to Da Nang can enjoy delicious seafood such as cuttlefish and orange fish which are not only tasty but also cheap.
The museums in Da Nang are also worth visiting. The most famous one is the Champa arts and sculpture museum which displays art works originating from Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Kon Tum. When in Da Nang, you should not miss a visit to the Non Nuoc fine-art stone craft village, which is renowned both at home and abroad. The village has thrived thanks to effective marketing efforts and the fine-art stone products are not only sold to visitors but also exported to many countries in large quantity. There is also a sculpture workshops run by local craftsmen in the Da Nang Stone Sculpture Centre. The centre has provided facilities and training for gifted young craftsmen so as to preserve and develop the unique craft.
