DANIDA Co-sponsors for Can Tho Green City Project

The Denmark International Development Agency (DANIDA) and the European Union (EU) recently joined hands to sponsor an additional 700,000 Euros for the second stage of the Can Tho Green City Project in 2005-2006.

Can Tho is the first Vietnamese city to be admitted to the international network of green cities. The two organisations donated 779,000 Euros for the project's first phase in 2003-2004, with the aim of training experts of the city’s departments of Science and Technology, Natural Resources and Environment, and Construction. It also provided for the Urban Works Company to build the waste management strategy in Can Tho City until 2020 and organising small projects at markets, schools, and agencies in order to replicate the model of collecting and treating waste to make the city cleaner and more beautiful.
