United Airlines Opens Rep Office in Hanoi

The world's No.2 airlines opened this morning its representative office in Hanoi, the second of its rep office in Vietnam after the one in Ho Chi Minh City, which was opened in November last year.

United Airlines conducted the first flight between the US and Vietnam, on December 9, 2004, becoming the first airline to fly the Vietnam-US Route in 30 years.

"The US-Vietnam Air Route is the result of years of cooperation between the governments of the two countries. The new office is part of our commitment to provide high-quality aviation service to contribute to Vietnam's economic growth," said Mark Russell, United Airlines South Pacific Director.

"Vietnam is integrating into the global economy and we hope the demand for travelling between Vietnam and the US will increase. The office in Hanoi will enable us to better serve the passengers not only in Hanoi but also in other localities in northern Vietnam," said United Airlines Vietnam Director Joe Mannix.

United Airlines, United Express and Ted, which are from the same group, now conduct 3,500 flights per day to over 200 cities worldwide. United Airlines is also the founder of the Star Alliance, which conducts flights to 700 airports in 130 countries.

In Vietnam, United Airlines' UA862 flight leaves the Tan Son Nhat Airport at 6:20am. Passengers from Hanoi can transit in Tokyo and then fly to 10 gateway cities of the US and can transit in Osaka and then fly to four cities of the US.
