Nghe An Province at a Glance

The central Nghe An province, located about 290 kilometres south of Hanoi, and 360 kilometres north of central Hue City, benefits from road and rail systems linking the North and the South of Vietnam, international seaport Cua Lo and Vinh airport. Nghe An is proud of being the starting point of the Central Heritage Road, of Ho Chi Minh legendary trail as well as the East-West Corridor travel route the connects Vinh City to Laos, Thailand and Myanmar via national road No.8.

 

With total area of 16,487 sq. km and two thirds of which is forest, Nghe An sees a great tourism potential, particularly long coastline with many beautiful beaches. Especially, Cua Lo Beach has been considered one of the best seaside resorts in Vietnam. Pu Mat National Park is a primary forest conservation area with biological diversification, including lots of rivers, streams, lakes, and waterfalls.

 

Nghe An is home to 131 national-standard historical and cultural relics, of which the most famous site is Kim Lien Village – the motherland of national liberation hero and world famous man Ho Chi Minh.

 

With diligent, intelligent people and full of national cultures, Nghe An's economy is strongly developing day by day and the province – the homeland of Ho Chi Minh, former President of Vietnam, will certainly be an ideal tourism destination for both local and international visitors.

 

Major Events of "Year of Nghe An Tourism 2005"

February 23: Mai Hac De Temple Festival and Nguyen Tieu Poem Night (night of the fifteenth of the first lunar month) in Nam Dan district.

February 24: Declaration Ceremony of the Year of Nghe An Tourism 2005 and the commemoration of the 975th birthday of Nghe An province (1030-2005) in Vinh City.

March 1-2: Tham Bua Festival in Quy Chau district.

March 23-24: Cuong Temple Festival in Dien Chau district.

April 5-6: Con Temple Festival in Quynh Luu

April 30 – May 1: Cua Lo Song Nuoc Festival and the launch of Cua Lo Tourism Season

May 17: International Conference on Tourism in Vinh City

May 19: Commemoration of the 115th birthday of Ho Chi Minh at Ho Chi Minh Square and the launch of Sen Village Festival and Tourism Week, including following activities:

-Book Fair

-Culture Day of Vietnamese ethnic groups

-Professional art festival

-Popular art festival

-Exhibition of propaganda paintings  

-Conference on Ho Chi Minh Culture

September 1 to December 12: Series of festival and sport and cultural events to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam's establishment, and other festivals.

December 2005: Closing ceremony of the Year of Nghe An Tourism 2005.
