Vietnam Expo 2005 Opens in Hanoi
The 15th International Trade Fair, Vietnam Expo 2005 will be organised on April 6-10, 2005 in Giang Vo Exhibition Centre, Hanoi, Ministry of Trade, Trade Promotion Department and Vinexad. The total area of 20,000 sq. metres will be occupied by 700 pavilions: 500 Vietnamese and 200 foreign including China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, ROK, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Cuba and Czech Republic. On display will be diverse products: food and drink, chemicals and fertilisers, machines and equipment, medicines and cosmetics, electrical and electronic equipment, means of transport, textile and garment, to name but a few. The exhibition focuses on wooden furniture and fine art articles, the main export items in 2005 with big market demand and strong Vietnamese export capacity.
According to Vice Minister of Trade Luong Van Tu, the total value of contracts signed at Expo 2004 was US$275 million, 8.7 per cent more than 2003 and 71 per cent more than 2001. Expo 2005 is aimed at promoting the export value to US$31.5 billion. The larger number of participating Vietnamese and foreign companies shows the greater market potential and economic development of Vietnam. It also demonstrates the growth of various industries and sectors. Expo 2005 will attract over 100 business missions mainly importers and wholesale traders. Two seminars will be organised on "Business competitiveness in AFTA and WTO process" and "Vietnamese trademarks against fake products".
Vietnam Expo 2005 Gold Medals will be awarded to high quality products and pavilions by the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Science and Technology and Department of Measuring and Quality.
