Vinh Phuc is considered a tourist hub in the greater Hanoi region, a buffer zone between Northwest provinces with Hanoi. The province has abundant natural tourism resources and typical cultural resources of the source of Vietnamese people. Tam Dao National Park, Tam Dao tourist site, Tay Thien, Dai Lai and Dam Vac scenic complexes, and diverse historical and cultural relics enable Vinh Phuc to develop various types of tourism: cultural, ecological, leisure and spiritual.
Vinh Phuc province’s tourism sector has made positive progress and created a solid foundation for tourism development in the coming time. Tourism revenue grew by 15% a year on average. In 2019, the province welcomed more than 6 million visitors, including 43,500 international travelers, 15% more than a year earlier, and 6.06 million domestic visitors, up 17%. Tourism revenue was estimated at VND1,910 billion, up 14% compared to 2018. Travel companies introduced high-quality tour programs, including domestic and international tours, and actively introduced and advertised many attractive destinations in Vinh Phuc.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue breakthrough tourism promotion policies and programs to make tourism promotion more professional and expand promotion scale. Tourism promotion officers had higher professional qualifications. Since 2016, the province has attracted 29 new tourism investment projects and five investment increase projects. Typical projects include 5-star Flamingo Dai Lai Resort (over VND6,000 billion), Tam Dao II Resort (VND2,987 billion in Phase 1, invested by Sun Group,) FLC Luxury Vinh Phuc Resort (VND600 billion), Tam Dao I Resort and some projects invested by Lac Hong Investment Joint Stock Company.
Tourism products are invested and developed in-depth. The focus for better quality and diversity of tourism products and services has helped draw more and more domestic and international tourists to visit Vinh Phuc province. Cultural and spiritual tourism products are maintained and developed on the basis of religious values of Tay Thien Temple, recognized as the national historical relic and the provincial historical and cultural relic. Tourism infrastructure, activities and services meet quality requirements when visiting and practicing beliefs, thereby contributing to affirming the brand of spiritual and cultural tourism. Leisure and entertainment products such as Tam Dao, FLC and Flamingo tourist attractions were upgraded and diversified to impress tourists to inspire them to stay longer, particularly during holidays and weekends when the room occupancy is even 100%. Ecological tourism and sightseeing products were upgraded with better infrastructure systems and more beautiful landscapes of destinations. Local residents were helped to develop community-based tourism activities and build shooting scenes for tourists to take pictures to appeal to more tourists.
The budget and content of tourism promotion was boosted to achieve more positive results on mass media and on websites displayed by English and Vietnamese languages. These website pageviews reached nearly 3.5 million visitors, up 75% over 2018.
Unlocking potential advantages and overcoming difficulties, in the coming time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Phuc will deploy consistent solutions to mobilize investment resources to build tourism, service and trade infrastructure; adopt tourism development investment mechanisms and policies; build and develop typical tourism products; foster tourism worker training; and introduce local potential tourism strengths. Last but not least, the department will encourage local communities to join tourism development; build a cultural tourism environment; develop and enrich tourism resources; develop Vinh Yen City into a festival destination featured by the return to the root of Vietnamese people. Then, the tourism sector will be strongly developed to become a spearhead economic sector as expected.
