In his opening speech, Nguyen Huu Chi, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Chuyen My Commune, affirmed that Chuyen My is a land that brings together many exquisite handicrafts, from Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay and lacquerware, Tan Dan carpentry, to Phu Yen – Chau Can leather footwear and Van Tu garment making. These traditional crafts are the crystallization of the skillful hands and creative spirit of many generations, and represent the quintessence of Vietnamese handicrafts that have reached many markets around the world. Spreading the value of these crafts not only preserves cultural identity but also promotes livelihoods and creates momentum for rural economic development.

To realize this year’s large-scale fair program, the People’s Committee of Chuyen My Commune, together with the Hanoi Department of Agriculture & Environment, developed a carefully prepared plan and organized multiple meetings with the goal of creating a professional exhibition space that meets the expectations of residents and visitors. This event concretizes the Resolution of the First Party Congress of Chuyen My Commune for the 2025–2030 term, while also implementing Hanoi’s orientation for craft village development in the context of restructuring the rural economy associated with tourism and cultural commerce.

This year’s fair features 100 booths, including 65 booths from typical units, artisans, and production households within the commune, along with 35 booths showcasing products from craft villages inside and outside the locality. Products introduced at the fair are diverse in materials and techniques, including handicrafts, safe agricultural products, OCOP products of Hanoi, and those from several northern provinces. The space at Chuon Thuong Hamlet Stadium is designed to be open and convenient for visiting, shopping, and experiencing craft village culture.

The fair takes place over five days, from November 14 to 18, 2025, featuring a series of professional and community experience activities. On the evening of November 15, the opening program began with artistic performances, speeches by commune leaders, and the screening of the documentary “Chuyen My Craft Village Preserving the Essence and Reaching Global Integration,” which was also livestreamed to disseminate information to a wide audience. On November 16, students from local schools visited to learn about production processes in craft villages, participated in STEAM educational activities, and interacted with artisans. In parallel were traditional folk games and cultural exchanges among hamlets and craft groups.

On November 17, booths continued to open to serve visitors and business partners, creating a space for experience sharing and product consumption linkages. Folk games such as sack jumping, tug of war, duck catching, and rope jumping created a lively atmosphere and attracted strong community participation.

The fair is expected to become an important bridge for promoting the economic potential and strengths of Chuyen My’s craft villages, thereby creating opportunities for enterprises, cooperatives, and production households to access markets, promote brands, and expand commercial cooperation. For visitors, this is an opportunity to directly experience creative spaces, learn about traditional crafts, and admire unique products bearing the cultural imprint of Chuyen My.

Notably, on November 16 and 17, 2025, Chuyen My Commune welcomed a delegation from the World Crafts Council (WCC) to assess and recognize the Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay and lacquerware craft village as a member of the World Creative Cities Network in 2025. On the afternoon of November 16, the delegation worked at the Exhibition and Product Introduction Center in Chuon Trung Hamlet; on November 17, the delegation split into groups for field visits, touring and evaluating production sites, traveling by electric vehicles along designated routes to conduct surveys and provide assessments and orientations for preservation and development in the next phase.

With its well-organized scale and the active participation of the craft village community, the Chuyen My 2025 Craft Village Products and Safe Agricultural Food Fair is regarded as a prominent cultural and economic highlight, contributing to enhancing the brand value of craft villages and promoting rural economic development in the context of integration.
