When he visited Thai Nguyen province in 2005, General Secretary Nong Duc Manh of the Communist Party of Vietnam guided the organisation of the National Tourism Year in 2007 to mark the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s return to the Thai Nguyen revolutionary base, May 20, 1947, May 20, 2007.
On August 8, 2006, the Governmental Office issued the announcement N0 114/TB-VPCP on the conclusion by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem, assigning the People’s Committee of Thai Nguyen to co-operate with the Vietnam National Tourism Administration and relevant agencies and ministries to organise the 2007 Thai Nguyen Tourism Year. The People’s Committee of Thai Nguyen considers it a good opportunity for Thai Nguyen province to promote its potential and priority policies to attract investment.
Content of 2007 Thai Nguyen Tourism Year
As planned, an opening ceremony of the Thai Nguyen Tourism Year will take place on February 26 and 27, 2007. On February 26, 2007, in Phu Dinh, Dinh Hoa district, in co-operation with the People’s Committee of Dinh Hoa district, the Thai Nguyen Department of Culture and Information, the Department of Trade and Tourism will organise cultural and tourism activities. On the same day, in Thai Nguyen city and districts and towns, cultural and art activities will be held.
On February 27, 2007, an incense offering ceremony to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh in Phu Dinh, Dinh Hoa district. The opening ceremony will be organised in Thai Nguyen city and will be broadcast live on Channel VTV1 and Channel VTV3 of Vietnam Television. It will be followed by an ceremony to mark the 60 year of President Ho Chi Minh’s returning to the Thai Nguyen revolutionary base to lead the anti-French resistance war and a ceremony to mark the 45th anniversary of Thai Nguyen city, October 19.
For the 2007 Thai Nguyen Tourism Year to leave great impression among visitors, the organisers will organise ceremonies to mark important events and tourism and cultural activities. Thai Nguyen province will guide the organisation of festival and cultural activities in the whole year of 2007, such as the Long Tong festival in Phu Dinh, Dinh Hoa district on January 9 and 10, the Duom temple festival from January 3-10 (lunar calendar), activities to mark the 90th year of the Thai Nguyen insurrection (1917-2007), and cultural and art activities.
Upcoming tasks
Agencies at all levels of Thai Nguyen province are exerting efforts to complete their tasks to prepare for such an important event. As planned, in 2006, the province will have to complete projects on building infrastructure facilities for tourism development, upgrading and building sheltering facilities, restaurants and hotels, roads to tourist sites. Accordingly, the province will upgrade road in the north of Nui Coc Lake, national highway 37, the Thai Nguyen stadium, the Cau river dyke and the Thai Nguyen Park.
Thai Nguyen province’s historical sites concentrate mainly in Dinh Hoa district. Therefore, the province will celebrate the upgrading and building relic sites, including the Dinh Hoa revolutionary base and such landscapes and relic sites as Khau Ty, Na Mon, Tin Keo, Khuon Tat, Bao Bien, Lang Quang and Cho Chu prison. It will promote the telecommunication coverage in the Dinh Hoa revolutionary bas, the Phuong Hoang cave, and the Nui Coc Lake.
At the same time, the province has boosted its promotion for the event, organising seminars to promote tourism development. The examination of food hygiene and safety will be implemented in local hotels and restaurants. At the same time, co-operation between Viet Bac provinces and Hanoi should be promoted for the success of the 2007 National Tourism Year.
