Nghe An Seeks Nearly US$1Bln for Hydroelectricity by 2010

Central Nghe An province is seeking for VND14.9 trillion (US$931.75 million) to build hydropower plants from now to 2010, local media reported.
 
The province is calling both local and foreign investors to pump capital in hydropower projects, pledging to give attractive preferential treatments.
 
Nghe An plans to build hydroelectric works with combined capacity of 797 MW, to generate 2.92 billion kWh of electricity annually. Its major projects consists of 320-MW Ban Ve, 20-MW Ban Coc, 180-MW Hua Na and 45-MW Nhan Hac.
 
The Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) invested VND5.92 trillion (US$370 million) in Ban Ve project while Que Phong hydroelectric joint stock company poured VND310 billion (US$19.38 million) into Ban Coc plant, both of which are due for operation in 2008.
 
Vietnam’s power sector needs VND636 trillion (39.75 billion) in total to develop power infrastructure in 2006-2010, requiring about VND250 trillion (US$15.625 billion) to complete 25 power plants. (Vietnam & World Economy)
