Taiwan's Foxconn to Invest US$1Bln into Binh Dinh

Foxconn Group of Taiwan, listed as the world’s largest maker of outsourced electronics products in 2006, will pour US$1 billion in several projects in the central province of Binh Dinh, state media said.
 
Foxconn and Binh Dinh authorities have signed a memorandum of understanding on this matter after the Taiwanese visited the province to explore investment incentives.
 
The Taiwanese company will build a 700ha- industrial park, residential and service areas in the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone and the Nhon Ly-Trung Luong tourism resort of 50ha.
 
Under the MoU, these projects will have a lifespan of 70 years.
 
Foxconn also plans to set up plants specializing in hi-tech products, trade centers, offices and apartments for hire in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Danang, Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh and Bac Giang and build a border trade zone in Lang Son province.
 
Foxconn, the trade name for Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd as Taiwan’s largest technology company, is also the biggest manufacturer of connectors for use in PCs in Taiwan, and a leading maker of connectors and cable assemblies in the world.
