The People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province has worked with Schaeffler Group of Germany to discuss the latter’s project, worth US$70 million in the first phase.
A representative of the group said investment procedures are being completed for submission to the People’s Committee for approval and licensing, expected this summer. Schaeffler wants to hire a pre-built factory to train its workers in late 2007 and start producing transmission components for automobiles and aircraft in 2008.
Schaeffler is also preparing to lease 5 ha of land in Amata Industrial Park in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province to build a plant, expected to start operation in the fourth quarter of 2008.
