French hotel operator Accor is expected to expand its network in Vietnam from eight hotels and resorts currently to at least 20 by the end of 2010, with the launch of its luxury Pullman and mid-scale Mercure brands and expansion of its Novotel brand, state media said.

Total investment for the expansion has not been made available at the moment.

The new hotels will help Accor “tap into one of Asia’s fastest growing tourism markets,” Accor’s Asia-Pacific Chairman Michael Issenberg was quoted as saying.

Three Pullman hotels are set to be developed in Vietnam, including the 150-room Pullman Sapa Resort and the 200-room Pullman Lao Cai Hotel in northern Lao Cai province, and the 360-room Pullman Vung Tau Hotel in southern Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.

The group also plans to develop two mid-scale Mercure hotels in Hanoi, one in Ha Long Bay, one in southern Nha Trang city and one in central Hoi An city, Michael Issenberg said, adding that Novotel Phu Quoc Resort will follow other Novotel openings scheduled in the next two years.

Accor, one of the largest hotel groups in the world now manages around 4,000 hotels in 100 countries and territories worldwide.
