South Korea-based Namae Vina Electronics Company has received an investment license from northern Hai Duong province’s authorities to build a $10-million electronic plant in the province, state media said.
The project, to cover 35,000 square meters in the Dai An Industrial Park (IP), is designed to have a capacity of 300,000 products per year. The plant is set to be made fully operational in Novembers this year.
The province is among Vietnam’s top ten localities in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with 162 projects from 21 countries and territories worldwide, totaling $1.89 billion. Of the sum, $802 million have been disbursed.
As of late 2007, Japan was the largest FDI investor in the province with 24 projects worth $592.2 million, followed by Taiwan with 38 projects costing $515.5 million. The runners-up were the US, South Korea, Singapore, Denmark and France.
Hai Duong has set a target to pull in $1 billion FDI by 2010. (VNS)
