As many as 230 companies from 27 countries and territories are gathering at the 5th Vietnam International Precision Engineering Machine Tools and Metalworking Exhibition (MTA Vietnam 2008).

The even, which was opened in Ho Chi Minh City September 3, sees new participants, including Gemrany’s Knuth, Japan’s Mitsui Busan Machine, India’s Meeshot Blasting Equipment, Jagular Industry, Anderson and Goodway Machine from Taiwan (China), and Durametal, Miracon, INEtest, Microcast, Opus and Itamec from Singapore.

This is a very good occasion for the firms to display their metal forming machines and metal cutting tools in the mechanical manufacturing industry.

The exhibition also offers a good platform for business exchanges between international suppliers and subcontractors with local manufacturers.

The 4-day exhibition is co-chaired by Singapore’s Exhibition Services Pte Ltd. and Vietnam’s VCCI Exhibition Service Co Ltd.

A report made by the Vietnam Association of Mechanical Engineering (VAMI) showed that the industry has posted an annual growth of nearly 22 per cent since 2001.

Export of engineering products earned more than $2 billion last year and the figure is estimated at $900 million in the first six months of this year.

However, local engineering businesses still mainly involve in subcontracting and command only 40 per cent of the local market. (VNA)
