The Business Network Switzerland (OSEC) - the official promoter of Swiss foreign trade will assist Vietnam’s private sector to accelerate exports to the country under the Swiss Import Promotion Program (SIPPO), a recent agreement inked the OSEC and the Trade Promotion Department of the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade was told.
The two sides will boost Vietnamese exports to Switzerland and other European countries by organizing trade fairs, market surveys, conferences and seminars.
The program will target at Vietnamese small and medium enterprises, particularly those involved in producing and exporting aquatic products, farm produce, processed food, handicrafts, furniture, garments, machinery, electronics and software.
The OSEC will cooperate with the Vietnamese partner to select Vietnamese businesses for the project, and provide latest information on the Swiss and European markets for Vietnamese exporters.
It will also help train Vietnamese businesses and organizations on business administration and trade promotion.
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Switzerland reached US$1.25 billion last year, surpassing the figure of US$781 million in 2006.
In the first six months of this year, the trade value reached US$1.84 billion.
Switzerland has so far invested into a total 50 projects worth US$750 million in Vietnam, ranking the fifth among European investors and the 19th out of 81 nations and territories. (Vietnam & World Economy, Pioneer)
