Vietnam reportedly spent US$256.6 million on goods imported from the United Kingdom in the first half of this year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said on its website.

In June, the country’s total import value was US$18.77 million, said the website without figuring on-year comparison.

Machines, equipment and spare parts, cotton, garment and footwear accessories, pharmaceutical products and chemical products were Vietnam’s main imports from the European country.

The UK is one of Vietnam’s important partners from the EU and is among Vietnam’s top ten export markets.

In 2007, bilateral trade stood at US$1.8 billion, including Vietnam's trade surplus of US$1.5 billion. (Vinanet)
