Vietnam is estimated to have produced 10.76 million metric tons of crude oil in the first nine months this year, down 67.6 per cent on year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) showed on September 29.

In Sept, the country’s crude oil production reached US$1.15 million metric tons, down 7.9 per cent on year, the office said.

The fall in crude oil volume is mainly due to lower production at Bach Ho, the country's biggest oilfield, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade said.

In Jan-Sept, Vietnam produced 5.58 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 187,900 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), up 7.6 per cent on year and down 18.3 per cent, respectively, the GSO said.

Vietnam is the third largest crude oil producer in Asia, exporting 10.13 million metric tons of crude oil valued at US$8.8 billion in Jan-Sept this year, up 52 per cent on year in value but down 9.3 per cent on year in volume. (GSO)
