The distributions and retail sales account for 15 per cent of Vietnam’s annual gross domestic product (GDP), according to the seminar entitled “Vietnam-WTO: Implementing commitments in distribution and retail sale services” held in Hanoi October 13.
The event is organized by the Vietnam Retailer Association and the National Committee for International Economic Cooperation Office to overview issues related to integration, opening market, policies of developing distribution and retail sale market in Vietnam.
Nearly outstanding distributors and retailers were honored at the seminar, such as Sabeco, TMC, Minh Long I, LiOA, Hapro, Phu Thai, Metro Cash & Carry and Big C.
Vietnam’s distribution and retail markets are expected to grow fast after 2009 as the country, pursuant to the WTO’s commitments, will allow establishing 100 per cent foreign-owned distribution and retail companies next year. (Labor, VNEO)
