Authorities of Soc Trang province have given the green light to the Germany-based EAB New Energy GmbH and Vietnam’s General Trading Production and Service Joint Stock Company (Trasesco) to build a wind power plant in Vinh Chau District.
Mr Lietzmann Klaus Deieter, CEO of EAB, said: A recent survey on the coastal areas of Soc Trang province shows that the project is feasible in Vinh Phuoc and Vinh Tan communes, Vinh Chau district.
Apart from wind power projects, EAB also plans to develop other projects in other areas in the near future.
At present, four investors are conducting studies to build wind power plants with a combined capacity of 300 MW. Particularly, TRASESCO is carrying out two projects in Vinh Phuoc and Vinh Tan communes (Vinh Chau district); Lien Nghia Investment Joint Stock Company is building Tran De wind power plant in Long Phu; Cong Ly Construction - Trading - Investment Co., Ltd is working on Lai Hoa project in Lai Hoa commune (Vinh Chau) and Power Green Joint Stock Company is building Ho Be wind-to-power plant (Vinh Chau).
Soc Trang is now the second Mekong Delta province with wind power facilities after Bac Lieu province.
