Vietnam to Host Japan - Mekong Tourism, Cultural Festival in Can Tho

The Mekong - Japan Tourism and Cultural Festival will be held in Can Tho City from December 1 to 5, 2009 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Can Tho City.

 

Among the main activities are the opening ceremony, a travel fair, a Mekong - Japan Tourism and Cultural photo exhibition, traditional art performances of Japan and the Mekong region, a volleyball competition and a marathon. Additionally, a workshop underscoring sustainable tourism development in the Mekong Delta will be held, with participants examining the cultural values, infrastructure, human resources and prospects of Mekong - Japan tourism cooperation.

 

Delegations from other countries and international cultural organisations will attend the event and explore Can Tho and Mekong Delta. During this event, the city will also host a fundraising march and traditional musical performances for poor and studious students in Mekong subregion countries.
