MPC Builds VND400B Seafood Processing Factory in Hau Giang

Minh Phu Seafood Joint Stock Company (MPC) on August 17 kicked off construction on a seafood processing factory that costs VND400 billion at the Song Hau industrial park in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang.
 
The plant will have an annual processing capacity of 20,000 tons of seafood, being the largest facility in the Mekong Delta region.
 
Construction on the 43-hectare factory is scheduled for completion by 2012.
 
The Ca Mau province-based seafood producer made a net profit of VND92.8 billion (US$5.21 million) in the first half of 2009, compared with a loss of VND119.638 billion in the same period last year.
 
In the period, MPC bagged US$74.9 million from exporting 7,316 tons of seafood products, up 2.09% in value and 20.3% in volume on-year.
 
This year, MPC targets a net revenue and pretax profit at VND3.170 trillion and VND236 billion, respectively.
 
MPC shares closed up 0.1% at VND26,600 on 99,970 shares traded Monday, including foreign buying of 60,550 shares. (Liberated Saigon)
