VCCI Nghe An: 20-year Companion of Business Community

 

The Representative Office of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI Nghe An), set up under Decision 180/PTM-TCCB dated April 6, 1994, represents VCCI in the locality and is the first VCCI representative office after the VCCI Second Congress.

 

In the first years of operation, the Representative Office had only two staff members responsible for all work. The first head office of VCCI Nghe An was at the Department of Trade and Industry of Nghe An province. In later years, VCCI Nghe An was split and moved to a modest office premise on Tran Phu Street, Vinh City. Later, to meet construction and development requirements, the staff increased to five, and is now 14. Most employees are graduated from major universities in the country.

 

From its early days, VCCI Nghe An had only dozens of members. But, its membership base expanded to more than 600 members as of June 2013, including businesses and associations in the two provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh. They operate in all industries with different scales. With its functions of connecting and supporting the business community, VCCI Nghe An has been in cooperation with provincial departments and local governments to implement programmes seminars, conferences, training courses to disseminate new laws for thousands of businesses. VCCI Nghe An also grants certificates of origin (C/O), organises business delegations to survey overseas markets, register trademarks and conduct surveys to collect feedback and ideas of enterprises and entrepreneurs. In addition, the Office regularly advises and supports companies to register business operations, complete export procedures, look for international customers, and resolve complaints from foreign businesses.

 

Though nearly 20 years of development and continued support for the business community, VCCI Nghe An has faced numerous difficulties and challenges. But with its perseverance, solidarity, determination and creativity, VCCI Nghe An, from the leadership to the staff, has gradually surmounted difficulties and challenges to maintain constant development to serve the expanding force of entrepreneurs in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces. And, the collective endeavour of all the staff of VCCI Nghe An was acknowledged, as the rep office is in a new 7-storey beautiful modern working office on Lenin Boulevard, Vinh City, Nghe An Province. The new estate, being completed, meets its working requirements.

 

June 2013 marked an important milestone of VCCI Nghe An's development process when it added some new young, dynamic staffs to meet operating demands and the development of VCCI Nghe An in the new phase. VCCI Nghe An welcomed the new leader, Dr Doan Duy Khuong - VCCI Vice President, an innovative and science-conscious leader. He made changes to power up VCCI Nghe An. And, VCCI Nghe An also had another happy information as VCCI leaders advocated transforming VCCI Nghe An Rep Office into VCCI Branch representative of the northern central region to integrate with the world, as well as the ASEAN Economic Community, which is expected to be formed in 2015. This move is strongly appreciated and supported by the provincial government of Nghe An.

 

All these things are a tremendous advantage as all the staff of VCCI Nghe An are aware of their responsibility and mission of supporting the business community, employers and business associations in the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh.
