Nghe An province achieved significant successes in 2013 with GDP growth of 7 percent and budget revenue of VND6,487 billion, equal to 123.1 percent of the plan.
In the context of global economic turmoil, Nghe An especially actively promoted its investment and ensured fundamentals for socio-economic development. In 2013, Nghe An licensed 89 projects, (84 domestic investments with total registered capital of VND13,310 billion and 5 foreign direct investments (FDI) with total registered capital of over US$21 million). Nghe An now has about 627 investment projects, including 588 ones with domestic capital of VND109,589 billion and 39 FDI projects of US$1.490 billion.
Many big projects has effectively launched, contributing to the increase of budget revenues and creating more jobs, for example Project of diary cows breeding and processing milk TH, Sai Gon - Lam River Brewery, Nghe An - Ha Noi Brewery, Sabeco Packaging, Ban Ve Hydropower, Hua Na Hydropower, electronic components manufacture BSE of Korea, Supermarket Centre Metro, Big C, garment factories of investors from Korea, Japan and others.
For industrial sectors, many projects are under construction, like: Hoang Mai Industrial Zone developed by the Vietnam Investment Petroleum (VIP) Joint Stock Company, Tan Thang Cement Factory, Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) factory, Unbaked construction materials Factory, Processing Complex of essential oil, pharmaceutical materials, high technological functional foods, manufacturing complex of raw materials, spare parts and finished products of hightech sandals, Thailand Royalfood canned fish processing plant. Especially, Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) has studied and developed complex of industrial park and urban services in Nghe An.
Infrastructure has been gradually improved. The upgrade and expansion of National Road 1A through Nghe An has been accelerated. In 2013, Vinh - Vientiane (Laos) international flight and five domestic flights to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Buon Ma Thuot and Da Lat were open. With the presence of three airlines and and the density of 15 flights per day, Vinh international airport will be continuously developed. Besides, Cua Lo port increased the number of passed cargo by 20 percent a year. New flows and new ports will be constructed.
Nghe An is planning to organise the Conference of Investors 2014 which is expected to witness MoU signing ceremonies and investment certificates granting for such projects as BECAMEX Binh Duong Industrial Park - Urban and Service Area Complex; tole factory of the Lotus Group; projects with Japanese investors; Dong Hoi harbour of Thanh Thanh Dat Co.,ltd.; Complex producing high tech materials, accessories and footwear; investment project of VN Ltd.; Nguyen Kim shopping mall; project of expanding beer plant Hanoi - Nghe An; tourism project of Ngu island - Lan Chau (Cua Lo); investment commitments and agreements to grant credit for projects of constructing and investing in Nghe An.
