Fully aware of the importance of industrial zone development, Bac Giang province set up the Committee for Preparing Industrial Zone Projects in 2001 and the Industrial Zone Authority in 2003 in accordance to the Prime Minister’s decisions.
Now, Bac Giang province has four industrial zones in operation with a total area of 1,061 ha. All industrial parks are located along National Highway 1A, about 40 km from Hanoi City and Noi Bai International Airport, 110 km from Haiphong Port, and 120 km from Huu Nghi Border Gate (Lang Son province). Besides, the Customs Office in charge of Bac Giang province-based industrial zones is located in Dinh Tram Industrial Park, a very convenient place for tenants to import and export goods.
1. Dinh Tram Industrial Park was the first industrial park in Bac Giang province. The 127-ha park completed technical infrastructure construction, including wastewater treatment facilities with a daily capacity of 2,000 cubic metres. The fully-occupied industrial park houses 99 projects with a total registered capital of VND1,653 billion and US$271 million.
2. Song Khe - Noi Hoang Industrial Park, covering 158 ha, has attracted 21 projects with a total registered capital of VND925 billion and US$109 million. The occupancy rate is 53.47 percent.
3. Quang Chau Industrial Park, covering 426 ha, features an adjoining residence of 150 ha. This is the largest industrial zone in northern Vietnam and is a part of an industrial - urban - recreational - service complex. Currently, the investor has carried out infrastructure construction for 140 ha, including wastewater treatment plants with a daily capacity of 5,000 cubic metres (scheduled to go into operation in August 2014). To date, the industrial park houses 14 projects with a total registered investment capital of VND1,304 billion and US$1.347 billion, which registered to rent 73.4 ha of land, or 26.7 percent of rentable land. Wintek of Taiwan invested US$1.12 billion to build a touch panel and liquid crystal display production project, which was built in 2011 and already is in operation.
4. Van Trung Industrial Park, covering 350 ha, is a part of a 960-ha industrial - trade - urban - service - golf course complex. The investor built infrastructure works for 120 ha of industrial park, including wastewater treatment facilities with a daily capacity of 5,000 cubic metres. So far, 10 tenants with a total registered investment capital of US$99.3 million rented 23 ha of land, or 10 percent of rentable area.
Except for the fully occupied Dinh Tram Industrial Park, the Bac Giang Industrial Zones Authority asked other industrial parks to speed up infrastructure construction to create new land space for investors.
Besides on May 12, 2010, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung issued Decision 759/TTg-KTN allowing the addition of Chau Minh - Mai Dinh (in Hiep Hoa district) to the list of industrial parks in localities with difficult socioeconomic conditions which will be given more investment incentives than others. About 20 km from Noi Bai International Airport, the investor is urgently preparing all favourable conditions for infrastructure construction.
Nguyen Anh Quyen, Director of the Bac Giang Industrial Zones Authority, said that despite the domestic and global economic downturn in the past years, with good geographic position, human resources and infrastructure, efforts of all-tier authorities for administrative reform, industrial zones in Bac Giang province have achieved positive results in investment attraction and generated a lot of new jobs for local people, thus significantly contributing to the overall socioeconomic development of the province.
The province and the Industrial Zones Authority are committed to creating the most favourable conditions for investors when they explore investment opportunities and carry out their projects in the province.
