VCCI Can Tho Branch - Central Point for Trade Promotion
"The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) has linked and formed a club of local trade promotion centres. This is considered a basis for the construction of a synchronous plan of action in trade promotion- investment attraction as well as the organisation of exchange fairs among localities in the region. In 2004, VCCI Can Tho Branch actually plays a nucleus role in trade promotion in the Mekong Delta region," said Vo Hung Dzung, Director of VCCI Can Tho Branch.
This can be proven by the branch’s effective performance in 2004 with the vote for chairmanship of the Club of Mekong Delta’s Trade Promotion Centres. In particular, it successfully organised many meetings and seminars which gained high appreciation such as those on calling for investment in Mekong Delta Region, Business with China – Trade and Investment Opportunities, and Mekong Delta Region in the International Integration. Through cooperation with GTZ, SYIB programs and SMEs assistance, the branch organised effective training courses for local State-run and private enterprises, even those in remote areas. VCCI Can Tho has actively coordinated with the MPDF to provide consultant services for local enterprises in human resource management, import-export contract, goods supply and market expansion, preparation for domestic and international fairs, and the building of trademark. Training and assistance for its member enterprises has also been paid special attention when it combined with local authorities to set up a project to build a training centre for the whole Mekong Delta region as a preparation for human resources in the future.
Despite the big influence of the seafood export market and investment in shrimp-fish raising in localities in 2004, VCCI Can Tho has actively combined with local trade promotion centres and enterprises to exchange and update information to gradually unlock the difficulties of the fishery sector. On the other hand, it supplies up to date information about markets, aquaculture proportion in the local economic structure, stock-in-trade as well as the demands of other potential markets.
